Nick Carter says booze and drugs almost killed him

Nick Carter says booze and drugs almost killed himWashington, Feb 6 (ANI): `Backstreet Boy' Nick Carter has revealed that his addiction to drugs and alcohol got so much out of control that it almost killed him.

Talking of his drug and alcohol problems, Carter, 29, detailed how his heart got weakened from years of abusing booze and drugs.

The blonde singer experienced chest discomfort and fatigue while touring in Europe last year, and had his heart tested by a cardiologist.

But, just the night before his results were due back, Carter "went out and just went nuts."

"I drank so much and I did a bunch of blow. I felt like I was trying to kill myself - because I didn''t want to get the results," Fox News quoted him as telling People magazine.

And then he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, a weakening of the heart that led to the death of singer Andy Gibb, 30, and actor Chris Penn, 40.

"I don''t want to die. I don''t want to be that person people read about and think, ''That''s sad that he couldn''t stop it and killed himself," he said. (ANI)
