Sania crashes out of US Open
Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza's campaign has come to an end in the women's singles event of the US Open as she faced worst defeat of her career against Italian Flavia Pennetta in the second round today.
Sania was looking helpless against the powerful serves of 10th seeded Flavia as Sania failed to win even a single game in the match. Sania lost the match to her opponent in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 in just 50 minutes.
Sania, who reached into the fourth round of US open in 2005, made 28 unforced errors as compared to 10 by her opponent. Sania committed 16 unforced errors in the first set and her served was broken thrice by Flavia in the 22-mimutes set.
Sania will now play in mixed doubles event with her partner Mahesh Bhupathi. Sania-Bhupathi duo had won the Australian Open mixed doubles title at the start of the year to become the first Indian pair to win Grand Slam mixed doubles title.
