Wild Web to be controlled by ThinkUKnow

ThinkUKnowBrendan O'Connor, Australian Minister for Home Affairs, has launched a new program called ThinkUKnow. The new program is a school based cyber safety program and will be running on a national basis. This would help them to protect Australia from online sex offenders, scammers, spammers and cyber bullies.

Australian federal police (AFP) has joined hands with Microsoft and its joint venture company 'ninemsn' in order to provide expansion to the already established 'ThinkUKnow' program on a national basis.

Australian states of New South Wales, Victoria and the Australian Capital Territory (the ACT) already operate this program. The program's main motive would be to help educate children throughout Australia regarding cyber-safety and security. This program would also enable them to not fall easily in an online trap. ThinkUKnow originated in the UK by the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Center (CEOP).

Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory will see themselves operating this program in 2010. The World Wide Web has become a Wild Wild Web over the years and its hazards are something that the children and their parents need to be aware of.
