Saurav and Dipika sail into Chennai Open final
India's Saurav Ghosal and Dipika Pallikal have made into the final of the mixed doubles event of the Chennai Open Squash championship on Wednesday.
The third seeded Indian duo defeated Alan Clyne and Frania Gillen of Scotland 9-11, 11-6, 11-8 in the semifinal. Saurav-Dipika duo lost the first set but came back in the last two sets to win the match.
Saurav-Dipika will now face the top seeded pair of Egypt's Mohammad Ali Anwar Reda and Rachael Grinham of Australia in the title round on Thursday. Reda-Grinham duo has defeated England's Chris Simpson and Jenny Duncalf 9-11, 11-6, 11-5 in the other semifinal to book their berth in the final.
In the women's doubles, India's Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal went down to Grinham and Duncalf 9-11, 9-11 in the semifinal. Grinham-Duncalf will now take on Donna Urquhart and Kasey Brown of Australia in the final.
Ghosal and Harinder Pal Sandhu also failed to make into the final as they lost their semifinal match against Jonathan Kemp and Stephen Coppinger 11-5, 10-11, 9-11.
