SAIC’s cars & LCVs to debut by 2011-end: GM
According to the recent announcement made by the GM India, it will launch the commercial vehicles and passenger cars from the stable of its Chinese partner, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) by the end of next year.
Moreover, the company further highlighted the fact that it will be investing ‘millions of dollars' at its plant in Halol, Gujarat to manufacture light commercial vehicles (LCVs) from SAIC's stable.
The independent operations of GM India have been converted into a 50-50 JV agreement after the company signed a deal with SAIC last year.
Moreover, GM India President and Managing Director, Karl Slym said that the SAIC products will give the consumer a wider menu from the door of GM in the Indian market.
Slym further highlighted the fact that the company will be launching the Light CVs by the end of 2011 or by early 2012 that will be followed by the launch of passenger cars.
The passenger cars that will be launched from SAIC will be sold under the Chevrolet brand, while the decision on branding the LCVs is still being given a thought.
