Health services in Taihape still far from bright future

Health services in Taihape still far from bright futureThere is a big question mark on the future of health services in Taihape as soon after the directors went to the trustees of Otaihape Health Trust to find a resolution to voluntarily liquidate Otaihape Health, it was announced that the Otaihape Health has gone into the liquidation process.

It is to be mentioned here that the resolution was passed by a majority vote and it took effect on the last Friday.

Moreover, the Whanganui District Health Board offered a helping hand to the Otaihape Health on September 2. However, the package offered surely had a certain set of conditions which were to be met by October 31.

But the directors recently said that they were not able meet those conditions and hence Whanganui District Health Board chief executive Julie Patterson said she fully understood the decision of the trustees and acknowledged how difficult this is for all concerned.

Moreover, she also mentioned the fact that the decision will surely be very unsettling and disruptive for the residents and their families' staff and the whole community as the overall responsibility for health services in the region is of the whole industry.
