High exposure to air pollution increases pregnancy complications Washington, Dec 29 : A new study has revealed that new evidence linking high exposure to air pollution to an increased risk of congenital malformations have been discovered.

The nationwide study is the first to assess the association between different modes of conception-assisted reproductive technology (ART) versus spontaneous conception (SC) -- and the risks of exposure to air pollution to each.

Air China to launch direct Chengdu-Colombo flight from Feb.10

Air ChinaColombo, Dec.29 - China's national airline - Air China - will start a direct service between Chengdu, the capital city of southwest China's Sichuan province, and Sri Lankan capital Colombo from February 10, 2015.

An airline statement said that the Chengdu-Colombo service will operate four weekly flights using Airbus A330 aircraft.

The four flights will be on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays with one-way trip taking five-and-a-half hours.

This is the first service from Chengdu to a Sri Lankan city, marking an important step towards the construction of the flag carrier's Chengdu hub.

Amitabh Bachchan plans to start campaign for Hepatitis B

Mumbai - Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is planning to start a new campaign for infectious disease caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV).

The 72-year-old actor, who is also a UNICEF Global Ambassador for polio eradication, met doctors recently to strategies the plan.

"Wish to start a campaign on awareness of Hepatitis B... Met some committed doctors and shall strategise... Detect and cured asap!," Bachchan posted on Twitter.

Apart from his social works, Bachchan is also excited to release the first song of his upcoming release 'Shamitabh' after unveiling the film's first audio poster.

New Delhi - Blaming high cost of capital for slowdown in manufacturing sector, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley Monday pitched for removal of entry barriers and a globally competitive taxation regime to attract investments and boost growth.

"We have to put house in order," Jaitley said, to accelerate the growth, as the manufacturing sector was not growing as per its potential and radical steps might be required to revive growth in this key segment, although as results will not be visible overnight.

Speaking at a day-long workshop on Make-in-India, he however said Indian economy may improve slightly after two years of slowdown and the next fiscal will be even better.

AirAsia QZ8501 flight attendant always carried memories of MH370, MH17 tragedies

AirAsiaMelbourne, Dec 29 : A flight attendant aboard the missing AirAsia flight QZ8501 had reportedly posted a series of tweets about the ill-fated Malaysia Airline flights MH370 and MH17 earlier this year.

According to News. com. au, Oscar Desano is listed as a flight attendant on board the AirAsia flight, which lost contact with air control between Indonesia and Singapore.

The plane bound to Singapore from Indonesia with 155 passengers and six crew aboard disappeared after losing contact with an Indonesian air traffic tower on Sunday.

The flight attendant had tweeted on Christmas saying "Merry Christmas to all my beautiful friends who celebrate it".
