New Delhi, March 19 : Japan's Nissan Motor Company Wednesday launched its entry-level hatchback, Datsun GO, priced between Rs. 3.12 lakh and Rs. 3.69 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The launch marks the revival of the Datsun brand after 32 years. The entry-level hatchback which has been engineered and developed in India was first showcased last year.

The entry-level vehicle is powered by a 1.2 litre three-cylinder petrol engine and a fuel economy of about 20.63 km a litre. The engine is coupled with a five-speed manual transmission.

Islamabad, March 19 : Former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf has challenged the decision of the special court not to transfer his high treason trial case to a military court.

The former president filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday through defence lawyers Khalid Ranjha and Faisal Hussain, Dawn online reported Wednesday.

A three-member special court, headed by Justice Faisal Arab of the Sindh High Court, had Feb 21 rejected Musharraf's plea to transfer his case of imposing emergency in the country Nov 3, 2007, to the military court.

Osaka-headquartered tech giant Panasonic on Tuesday distributed 4,000 solar lanterns in India's various parts where people do not have access to electricity.

The consumer durables giant distributed the solar lanterns in partnership with six leading non-government organizations, viz. World Health Partners, Plan International India, Care India, World Vision India, Japan Lutheran Evangelical Association and SARD.

The lanterns were distributed in areas of Haryana, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and West Bengal.

India on Tuesday sealed a pact on information technology (IT) and software cooperation with China, a move that is expected to help Indian IT companies in obtaining contracts from China's state-run firms.

After signing the memorandum of understanding on IT cooperation, Yang Xueshan, Vice Minister in the Ministry of Industry & Information Technology (MIIT), claimed that contrary to Indian perceptions, China's state-run companies weren't blocking Indian IT companies.
