YouTube set to block indie labels as subscription service launches

YouTubeLondon, June 18 : YouTube is all set to remove music videos by artists like Adele, Arctic Monkeys and Radiohead, as the independent labels that they work for have refused to agree to terms with the site.

Google, the owner of the YouTube, are now renegotiating contracts as they prepare to launch a music subscription service.

The three major record labels - Universal, Sony and Warner - have come to an agreement with the site, but negotiations came to a naught with smaller independents, the BBC reported.

According to some independents, they were being offered "highly unfavourable terms".

Stress may speed up memory decline later in life

StressWashington, June 18 : A new animal study has revealed that increased stress hormones might speed up cognitive decline in people as they age.

While most people will experience some cognitive decline as they get older, the extent of these changes and how rapidly they progress varies greatly from one person to the next.

However, the research does suggests that how the body responds to stress may be one of the factors influencing how the brain ages.

The study found that aged rats with high levels of the stress hormone corticosterone showed structural changes in the brain and short-term memory deficits.

The appointment helps RIL meet a new law requiring listed companies to have at least one woman in the boardroom to boost gender diversity.

"Shareholders of RIL approved the appointment of Nita M Ambani, Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, as Director on the Board of RIL in the AGM held today," the company said in a statement here.

Nita, 50, took the place of Mukesh's uncle Ramniklal H Ambani, who retired from the board at the age of 90.

Acer appoints co-founder George Huang as board chairman
