Rail passengers will reportedly be able to book tickets through a mobile phone starting July 1 as Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will launch an SMS-based ticketing service.

Citing a senior IRCTC official, PTI reported on Tuesday that SMS-based ticket booking service would make the task much easier and convenient as users will be able to book tickets from anywhere and anytime.

Adani Enterprises on Tuesday announced it had divested its 2.50 per cent stake in Adani Ports & SEZ Ltd to comply with the Securities & Exchange Board of India's (Sebi's) 25 per cent minimum public shareholding norm.

Continued decline in car sales could force manufacturers decrease production and cut jobs, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

Data released by the industry body revealed that car sales slipped 12.26 per cent in May, and it was the seventh consecutive month to report a decline in sales.

Manufacturers sold a total of 143,216 passenger cars in the domestic market during the month of May this year, as against 163,222 units in the corresponding month of the previous year.
