Tokyo, Jan 11 : China's trade with Japan fell 3.9 percent in 2012 to 329 billion dollars, the first drop in three years, the General Administration of Customs has said.

The drop reflects that Chinese consumer have boycotted Japanese goods sparked by a territorial row, which led to an 8.6 percent fall in imports from Japan last year.

According to the Japan Times, Japan fell from being China's fourth-largest trading partner to its fifth.

Washington, Jan 11 : A CEO of Tennessee company, which trains people in weapon and tactical skills, has said he's willing to go to outrageous lengths to protect his right to use a gun in the US.

New Delhi, Jan 11 : The Election Commission of India on Friday announced dates for assembly elections in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland.

Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath said the polls will be conducted in two phases.

Tripura will go to polls in the first phase on February 14, while polls in Meghalaya and Nagaland will be held in the second phase on February 23.

The votes will be counted in the three states on February 28.

In Meghalaya and Nagaland, nominations will have to be filed by February 6, the commission said.

Pune (Maharashtra), Jan 11 : The 11th Pune International Film Festival (PIFF), which commenced here on Thursday, felicitated veteran Bollywood actors for their valuable contribution to the film industry.

Actors Jeetendra Kapoor and Ramesh Deo were given lifetime achievement awards.

Jeetendra said: "I have spent so many years in the film industry with your love and affection."

Well-known film personalities, including actors Mohan Agashe, Mukta Barve, director and producer Subhash Ghai, sound designer Resul Pookutty and Jabbar Patel, director of PIFF attended the festival.

New Delhi, Jan 11 : The All India Tennis Association (AITA) picked a second-string squad on Friday for India''s Davis Cup tie against South Korea, snubbing the eight revolting players who refused to make themselves available.

The tie will be held here on February 1-3.

The squad selected includes only one senior player in Leander Paes.

V M Ranjit (ranked 517), Vijayant Malik (ranked 542) and Purav Raja (ranked 155 in doubles) are the other members.

S. P. Misra will be the non-playing captain while Zeeshan Ali will be the coach.

Ranchi, Jan 11 : Jharkhand Director General of Police (DGP) Gauri Shankar Rath, who has condemned the barbaric and cowardly act of the Naxals to surgically implant a bomb inside the stomach of a CRPF jawan killed in an encounter, on Friday said the ultras have grown stronger technically with external support.

"Maoists are taking advantage of the technical advancements that are coming up. So it is not really surprising. I would call them technically advanced, but I would surely call them techno savvy," said Rath.
