Paes-Dlouhy survive first round scare
India's Leander Paes and Lukas Dlouhy of Czech Republic have reached into the second round of men's double event of the US Open after ousting Romanian pair of Victor Hanescu and Gabriel Trifu.
The fourth-seeded Indo-Czech pair defeated Victor-Trifu duo in straight sets by 7-6 (11) 7-6 (4) in 107 minutes in the first round at Flushing Meadows. Paes-Dlouhy, runner-up of last year US Open, fought hard to win the match against their opponent as both sets went to tie-breaker.
Paes and Dlouhy will now play against the winner of the match between Nicolas Almagro and Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo of Spain and Russian pair of Teimuraz Gabashvili and Dmitry Tursunov.
India's Mahesh Bhupathi and Bahamian Knowles will start their campaign with match against the pair of American James Cerretani and Lovro Zovko of Croatia in the first round of men's double event. The Indo-Bahamian pair, winner of Montreal Masters title last year, has been seeded fourth in the US Open.
