Pak Government welcomes Baitullah Mehsood's ‘shun terror’ offer

Islamabad, Apr 24 : The Pakistan Government has welcomed the announcement made by Pakistani Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsood that he would shun terror activities.

Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani's Adviser on Interior Rehman Malik said that the country would soon hear good news about strengthening of peace initiatives.

Malik said although Baitullah Mehsood had always denied having any hand in the assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto yet a thorough probe would be conducted to ascertain real perpetrators.

He also said that efforts to restore peace in Baloochistan, FATA and other restive areas would continue and nation would soon hear good news in this regard.

Malik maintained that withdrawal of Lal Masjid cases was out of question, adding that the government wanted to abolish politically motivated cases with consensus, The News reported. (ANI)
