Pal’s houses raided by IT Officials

Madhu Koda, Shibu SorenNationwide raids on Madhu Koda's associates was carried out by Income tax officials, who also raided the private secretary of chief minister Shibu Soren as he had allegedly helped the former chief minister amass illegal wealth to the tune of Rs 2,000 crore.

Houses of M. L. Pal were raided by the IT Officials, which came as a serious embarrassment for Soren. Pal has on house in Jamshedpur and two in Ranchi. Furthermore, search and seizure operations in 70 locations across the country, including Patna, Delhi, Mumbai and Chaibasa, were also carried out by IT Officials.

The raids conducted today were a follow up to ongoing investigations into Koda's empire, which was illegally constructed by clearing questionable mining leases in favor of a few companies and a rural electrification contract granted to one Hyderabad-based IVRCL.

Pal has been accused for having used his position of influence to facilitate these deals that produced crores in return. He is also close to both Koda and Soren.

Apart from this, the Koda government has also been accused for supporting some firms floated by Pal's son while passing rural electrification contracts.

The CBI also is also scrutinizing Pal for having presented a forged engineering degree at CMPDI, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, to get a job in the '70s. He was apparently sacked.

It was in last year on 31st October, when IT officials had first raided Pal's property. However, his boss, Soren, will not be able to distance himself from the controversy, after today's action.

Patna-based former mines Secretary Jaishankar Tiwary, former chairmen of Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB) V. N. Pandey, B. N. Verma and H. B. Lal and Koda's associates at Chaibasa, Gua, Badajamda, among other places were the other people, whose houses were raided.

The houses of director (mines) B. B. Singh, Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB) member secretary R. K. Sinha, JSEB member S. N. Choudhary and three establishments of a renowned jewellery shop in Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Chaibasa, were also raided by IT officials.
