Andrew Lloyd WebberLondon, Jan 11 : Legendary composer Andrew Lloyd Webber is grateful to be alive after receiving an all-clear in his prostate cancer battle.

The theatre impresario is recovering quickly after finishing treatment and surgery to remove his prostate gland at a clinic in London last year, reports contactmusic. com.

"It is a huge relief. We have arrived at the end of a long journey at the best possible outcome. In my case, I will be 62 next year and I have five children. Most importantly, I am alive, my children have a father," he said.

Webber, 61, who was hospitalised again on November 17, had last month revealed that he was undergoing treatment for prostate cancer, and after his surgery three weeks ago he was expected to be back on his feet.

But he hit a setback after doctors diagnosed him with an infection and rushed him back to hospital for urgent treatment.

Co-written by Ben Elton, the tale is set on New York''s Coney Island in 1907, 10 years after the Phantom fled Paris.

The plot will be centred on the mysterious Phantom, known as Mr Y, who lives among the freaks of Coney Island.

However, Webber insists that it need not be looked upon as a sequel to the earlier hit.

Lloyd-Webber has confirmed he will audition dogs through the new BBC1 talent search programme.

Although the exact format of the dog auditions has not yet been disclosed, a BBC source said that "a Barbara Woodhouse-type expert" would help with the casting.

The announcement of this new show has also shot down rumours that Lord Lloyd Webber was about to switch from the BBC to ITV.

The Stage newspaper has named Webber as the most powerful theatre personality in six out of its past ten theatre power charts.

Lloyd Webber, 60, who has had huge success in the West End and Broadway, is best known for creating hit musicals such as `Cats' and `The Phantom of the Opera'.
