Short film producers express concern over lack of market place

Panjim, Nov 26 : Noted filmmaker and President of the Indian Documentary Producer’s Association Jahnu Barua on Thursday expressed concern at the lack of awareness of poor marketing of short films.
Addressing a press conference on the sidelines of the 40th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) here Barua said: “With the advent of technical ease there is a spurt in short film making, however, due to lack of awareness and outlets people are not getting to see most of the output.”

Panaji, Nov 26 : Well-known filmmaker Jahnu Barua rues that despite more than 400 television channels in the country no one sees documentaries as a viable proposition.
"Foreigners are more interested in Indian short films than our own people," said Barua, who is the president of the Indian Documentary Producers Association (IDPA). He was addressing media at an interaction session at the ongoing 40th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) here Thursday.
Barua said the IDPA was in talks with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to start a separate channel to showcase short films.
National Award winning films need better platform: Jahnu Barua

Panaji, Nov 25 : Noted Assamese filmmaker Jahnu Barua rues that there is no mechanism to screen National Award films in different parts of the country.
"It's sad that there is no system in the country where people from different regions can see National Award winning films," said Barua, who has won several National Awards for films like "Aparoopa" and "Bonani".
Barua stressed that evolving such a system was a critical need of the hour.
"People at the helm need to be pressurised so that they get tempted to see each other's best work," he said.
