India thrashes Malaysia 3-0 in Fed CupIndia has qualified to the Group-I of the Fed Cup as India dumped Malaysia 3-0 in Group A of the Asia/Oceanic Group II of the Fed Cup in Kuala Lumpur.

India dominated in all three matches against Malaysia including two singles and one doubles match as they won all matches without even losing a single set.

Poojashree Venkatesha gave India 1-0 lead as India’s no. 2 outplayed Chin-Bee Khoo in straight sets by 6-1, 6-1. Sania Mirza extended the lead to 2-0 after she thrashed Jawairiah Noordin 6-1
6-1 in the second women’s singles match.

Ankita, Prerna in Pune ITF semifinals

Poojashree VenkateshaPune, Oct 15 : Sixth-seeded French girl Elodie Rogge Dietrich knocked out top seed Poojashree Venkatesha 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 while wildcard Ankita Raina got the better of second seed Rushmi Chakravarthi 7-5, 1-6, 6-0 to enter the semifinals of the $10,000 women's International Tennis Federation (ITF) Futures tournament here Thursday.

Dietrich now takes on unseeded Prerna Bhambri who outplayed Aishwarya Agrawal 7-5, 6-3. Pune girl Raina will clash with fourth-seeded Miki Miyamura of Japan who outclassed Shivika Burman 6-2, 6-1.

The 19-year-old Mysore girl had also won the doubles title with Delhi girl Sanaa Bhambri and she continued her good form in the singles also to win the final match which was delayed for four hours due to rain.
