Police search for woman suicide bomber in Sri Lanka's capital Colombo  - Police have stepped up a search for a Tamil suicide bomber who is thought to be in Sri Lanka's capital, state-run television said Monday.

The female bomber is said to be using a Muslim name, aged 24 and dressed in the fashion of Muslims, state television said.

The Defence Ministry released her photograph, identity details and her address in the capital.

It was the first time the government launched a search for a suicide bomber since the rebels of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam were defeated in May.

Tamil rebels have been responsible for carrying out more than 350 suicide attacks. (dpa)
