NCT'&'H makes waves at WTM 2008

Dhabi, Nov 21st, 2008 : The National Corporation for Tourism '&' Hotels (NCT'&'H) has made waves in the recently concluded World Travel Market (WTM) in London, making substantial achievements as part of its impressive participation in the stand of Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The NCT'&'H has signed a host of business agreements with leading tour operators and hoteliers in Britain, Europe and other countries for dispatching group of tourists to spend holiday in hotels owned by the Corporation in Abu Dhabi, said a statement.
Pak identifies land for building its Mumbai consulate

Lahore, May 6 : Pakistan has reportedly finalized a 4000-square meter plot near the Mumbai airport which it would be soon acquiring for constructing its Mumbai consulate building.
On the instructions of New Delhi, the Maharashtra government had identified the land, following which Pakistani officials made the final selection, reported the Daily Times.
Pakistan closed down its consulate in Mumbai in 1992 following a diplomatic standoff between the two countries.

Finance Minister Kang Man Soo told the parliament's financial committee on Wednesday he expected that foreign investors would continue to abandon their interests in the country for the time being.
But it would be unlikely that South Korea will suffer serious repercussions from the current US financial woes, despite the flight of foreign investors, Kang was quoted by the public broadcast station KBS as saying.

Chana dropped Rs 9 and settled at Rs 2321 per quintal on estimates of higher winter crop output, but a rise in domestic demand limited losses. Despite the weakness prices are likely to rise in the short-term due to higher demand during the festivals and upcoming wedding season. Demand for chana remains firm due to the festival season. Chana prices are expected to rise further on strong demand. In Delhi spot market, chana jump up by 16 rupee to end at 2307 rupee per 100 kgs. The volume was noted at 50280 lots. Support for chana is at 2310 below that could see a test of 2298. Resistance is now seen at 2338 above that could see a resistance of 2354.

Mustardseed yesterday traded with the positive node and settled 3.14% up at 3453 tracking firmness in spot demand. Traders mentioned that fragile demand of mustard oil in the coming one or two months resulted to poor offtake of mustard seed in the major mandies. Traders stated that the overall crushing of mustard seed in January and February month is likely at 2-2.25 lakh tonnes against the normal average monthly crushing of 4-5 lakh tonnes. The total arrivals of mustard seed increased by 10000 bags at 80000 bags in major mandies.
RIL profit mounts up near 27.8 pc

Meeting markets estimation, Reliance Industries (RIL) stated a 27.8 % increase in net profit throughout the quarter finished on September 2010 on elevating revenues by refining and oil and gas production.
Net profit for the July-September quarter was Rs 4,923 crore, increased by Rs 3,852 crore since last year.
Turnover of mainly valued Indian company rose 22.8 % Rs 59,962 crore, increased from Rs 48,843 crore last year.

Hanoi - The death toll from Tropical Storm Mirinae in central Vietnam has risen to 33, the country's National Steering Committee for Storm and Flood Control reported Wednesday.
Vietnamese newspapers reported higher death tolls, with figures running as high as 41 dead and nine missing.
Several areas in the provinces of Phu Yen and Binh Dinh were cut off by floodwaters. Troops using boats and helicopters were still rescuing locals trapped on the roofs of houses on Wednesday.

New Delhi, Jan 5 : The Indian government has given a go-ahead to open 104 peaks in Jammu and Kashmir bordering Pakistan and China with the aim of promoting adventure tourism and mountaineering activities in the state.
The clearance was given by the defence ministry after the tourism ministry had backed the proposal to open these peaks for the tourists, official sources said here.
