Profits for Logica near double

LogicaA rise in pre-tax profits was seen by Logica in the six months to June 30 to 24m, up from £12.6m. Affected by strong performance from its outsourcing services arm, the company reported a 6 percent rise in revenues to £1.88bn.

It was put forward by the company, which is listed in London and Amsterdam, that it had taken appropriate action in the poorly-performing countries, though there was still uncertainty in the consulting and professional services markets.

Via a statement, Chief Executive Andy Green said: "We expect these actions and the strength of our outsourcing business to allow us to maintain margin in line with last year."

A slight fall was seen in the shares of the company post the announcement of results. It should be mentioned that the company's shares had increased 25 percent in the last week to a new 10-month high on Wednesday, after the better-than-expected quarterly earnings from peers Capgemini and Fujitsu.
