Punjab Police seize 8kg heroin from a Nigerian nationalAmritsar, Jan 8 : Punjab Police on Friday detained a Nigerian national with about 8 kilograms heroin worth 400 million rupees in the international market.

Acting on a tip-off, Punjab Police’s Special Operation Cell, detained international Heroin smuggler Felix Odemole resident of Nigeria near the Amritsar railways station.

Amritsar Senior Superintendent of Police P. K. Rai said: "State''s special operation cell has achieved a big success in which a Nigerian national named Felix have been nabbed with 8 kilograms of heroin near the railway station.”

“Felix stays in Delhi and he is related to Pakistan smuggler Abad Ali. He used to work with him and after collecting the stock from here, used to pass it on," he added.

Rai said the recovered consignment of heroin was to be routed to different countries.

He added that preliminary investigations reveal Odemole was residing in New Delhi since 2004 when he visited India on Student Visa, which expired in 2006.

Odemole had close proximity with Pakistan smuggler Abad Ali through his contact based in South Africa, Rai added.

Police is now trying to unearth the entire nexus and network of smugglers. Search operations are on at various locations to track other Nigerian associates of the accused.

Police have registered a case Fir No. 3 Dated 07/01/2010 U/s 21/29/61/85 NDPS Act, Ps. S. S. O. C. Punjab, Amritsar. (ANI)
