Radio Pakistan says, Sikhs not given their rights since independence!Abohar Jun 17 : Radio Pakistan in its recent Punjabi Durbar programme said that the Sikh community had been denied the rights promised to it.

The allegations were made recently, when the world fraternity watched how the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance received a huge public mandate and chose Dr. Manmohan Singh, a Sikh, for the post of the prime minister of the country for a second time.

The allegation that the Sikhs have not got their due, looks all the more surprising when one looks at Punjab where an Akali Dal-led Government is in power, the former Army Chief General J. J. Singh is Governor of Arunachal, and the Planning Commission is headed by Montek Singh Ahluwalia, and Surjit Singh Barnala has been a senior Minister in the Government and is presently the Governor of Chennai

S P Singh and Pradeep Kumar, educationists, have stated that the Punjabi Durbar programme of Radio Pakistan has lost all credibility.

"According to me, the intention and aim of Pakistan's propaganda is to provoke people in India. But it looks inane now. The Sikh community is literate and intelligent enough to understand their (Pakistan's) propaganda against India. We have got political and religious freedom and we are not facing any type of problem. Moreover, the Sikh minority has got reservation in every field. By reminding the old incidents and co-relating them with present-day situation, they are trying to arouse people to destroy peace in the country," said S P Singh, an educationist.

"Pakistan's aim and intentions have always remained suspect . Pakistan cannot see people happy in India,"said Pradeep Kumar, another educationist. (ANI)
