Real Madrid need to offload just two more players

Real Madrid need to offload just two more players Madrid  - Real Madrid's "Operation Exit" to offload unwanted players is finally coming to an end.

After selling Klaas Jan Huntelaar to AC Milan on Thursday for around 14 million euros (20.14 million dollars), Real only need to get rid of two more players.

Clubs are allowed to register 25 players for La Liga, and the whites have 27 in their squad at the moment.

According to sports daily Marca on Friday, top of the "black list" of coach Manuel Pellegrini is Rafael Van der Vaart, who has not been taken on the summer tour of Canada.

Several Bundesliga clubs are said to be interested in the Dutch playmaker, who has failed to fit in at Real after joining from SV Hamburg a year ago.

The other player to leave will be one from the following list: Alvaro Negredo, Mahamadou Diarra, Ezequiel Garay, Royston Drenthe, Wesley Sneijder, Aarjen Robben and Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

Marca claims on Friday that neighbours Atletico Madrid are interested in Fernando Gago and Gonzalo Higuain, but Pellegrini wants to keep both young Argentines at the Estadio Bernabeu.

So far this summer Real have managed to offload no less than eight players, in one of the biggest clearouts in their 107-year history: Jordi Codina and Dani Parejo (both Getafe), Javi Garcia and Javier Saviola (both Benfica) Michel Salgado (contract cancelled), Fabio Cannavaro (Juventus), Gabriel Heinze (Olympique Marseille) and Huntelaar (AC Milan).

They have earned only around 30 million euros from these sales, whilst spending a world record 256 million euros on Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United), Kaka (AC Milan), Karim Benzema (Lyon), Xabi Alonso (Liverpool), Raul Albiol (Valencia) and Esteban Granero (Getafe). (dpa)
