India will not object to US-Pak civil nuke dealWashington, Oct 12 : India has indicated it would not object to the United States offering a civilian nuclear deal to Pakistan, although Washington has said that it cannot offer a similar agreement to Islamabad.

“We believe every country has the right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes,” said External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee when asked at a news conference about Pakistan’s demand for an India-like nuclear deal with the US.

Pak Police collecting data on clerics, religious institutionsIslamabad, Oct 12 : Pakistan Police has launched a massive operation to collect fingerprints, photographs and biometric data of people associated with religious institutions, mosques or jihadi organizations.

Spokesman for the Interior Ministry and Director General National Crisis Management Cell Brigadier (retired) Javed Iqbal Cheema said that the provincial governments were collecting data of all those people, who had ever been affiliated with religious organisations or were still working for jihadi outfits.

Pak blames India for blocking River Chenab’s flowIslamabad, Oct 12 : Pakistan has blamed India for blocking River Chenab’s flow in order to fill the Baglihar Dam on the occasion of its inauguration.

The News quoted sources as saying that India had blocked another 9,000 cusecs water, storing it in the Baglihar Dam. They said India had released just 10,739 cusecs at the Marala Head Works without giving any prior notice, which was in violation of the Indus Waters Treaty 1960.

National Security Advisers of India and Pakistan to meet tomorrow

New Delhi, Oct 12 : National Security Adviser M K NarayananNational Security Adviser M K Narayanan will meet his Pakistani counterpart Mahmud Ali Durrani here on Monday.

Issues like the spate of recent ceasefire violations, rise in cross border infiltration and Indian Embassy bombing in Kabul are likely to figure in the bilateral discussions between Durrani and Narayanan.

Durrani during his deliberations with the NSA and Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon is also expected to prepare ground for the special meeting of Joint Anti terror Mechanism.

PCB Wants Good Relations With BCCI

Newly appointed Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ijaz Buttsaid that he wants to have good relations with the influential Indian cricket board.

Addressing the media persons here on Friday, Butt said that if Pakistan wants to remain strong in the International Cricket Council (ICC), then it would have to seek the help of BCCI. He is expected to meet the new president of the Indian Board Shashank Manohar on the sidelines of the ICC executive board meeting in Dubai next week. 

He is quite optimistic that his meeting with the Indian president would be productive for the cricket of Pakistan.
