Former foes, the Democratic Party (DS) and the late strongman Slobodan Milosevic's Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) in June buried their hatchets to form a pro-European Serbian government, but the agreement remained elusive on the local level in Belgrade.
Instead, days after May 11 parliamentary and local polls in Serbia, The Socialists announced a coalition to rule Belgrade with the nationalist bloc, comprising the Serbian Radical Party and former prime minister Vojislav Kostunica's Democratic Party of Serbia.

This week’s action in the Forex markets has been dominated by choppy, two-sided trading. Traders seem to be looking for improved risk appetite but can’t find the catalyst that will propel the markets to new highs for the year.
Yesterday’s strong rally in the crude oil market and the spillover buying in the global equity markets has laid a good foundation for a rally in the risk sensitive currencies, but volume has been light and traders non-committal which could be an indication that traders are waiting for more solid economic evidence that an economic recovery is taking place and that financial markets are stabilizing.

The issue rocked the special court when Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam expressed his intention to seek the court's permission to examine 340 more formal witnesses in the terror attacks trial.
These would be in addition to the 271 witnesses already examined so far in person by Nikam in the past nearly eight months during the trial.
European car sales slump in March
Submitted by Mohit Joshi on Tue, 04/15/2008 - 09:08.Berlin - New European passenger car registrations slumped by 9.5 per cent in March, data released Tuesday showed, as rising oil prices and growing economic uncertainty kept consumers away from car showrooms.
The March fall resulted in car registrations dropping by 1.7 per cent during the first three months of the year compared with the same period in 2007, the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) said releasing the figures.
The decline in car sales also came despite continuing solid growth in the auto markets in Central and Eastern Europe.
While monthly registrations in Western Europe dropped by 10.2 per cent during March, registrations in Central and Eastern Europe rose by 3.5 per cent last month.
