Indian badminton ace Saina Nehwal has stormed into the quarterfinals of the women's singles event of the Malaysia Open Super Sereis after defeating Japanese Ai Goto at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Thursday.

The seventh seeded Saina dumped World no. 26 Goto in straight sets 21-19 21-12 in just 29 minutes in the second round. The first went neck-to-neck but Saina strengthened her grip in the second set to race away with the match.

Saina will now play against the unseeded Xin wang of China in the quarterfinal on Friday. Wang had defeated third seeded dane Tine Rasmussen in a three setter match 13-21 21-16 21-19 in the pre-quarterfinal on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Indian national champion Chetan Anand has crashed out of the Malaysia open. Chetan has went down to Wei Feng Chong of Malaysia 15-21, 21-19, 19-21, 21-18 after a marathon of 48 minutes in the second round of men's singles event.
