Saina breezes into French Super Series quarters
Indian ace shuttler Saina Nehwal has advanced into the quarterfinals of women's singles event of the French Super Series after ousting Pui Yin Yip of Hong Kong in straight sets in the second round.
The eighth seeded Saina defeated Pui 21-15 21-14 to book her berth in the last eight. Saina will now lock horns with the top seeded Wang Lin of China in the quarterfinal. Wang outplayed Bulgarian Petya Nedelcheva 21-2 21-8 in her second round match.
In mixed doubles event, the sixth seeded Indian pair of Jwala Gutta and D Viju defeated English pair of Dean George and Samantha Ward 19-21 21-10 21-16 in 42 minutes to enter into the quarterfinal.
However, in women's doubles event Jwala and her partner Ashwini Ponnappa crashed out after going down to the fifth seeded Chinese pair of Jin Maa and Xiaoli Wang 18-21, 20-22 in 32 minutes.
India's Rupesh Kumar and Thomas Sanave also knocked out after they lost to third seeded Dane duo of Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen 15-21, 21-13, 21-12 in the pre-quarterfinal of men's doubles event.
