Samsung to launch Wi-Fi enabled versions of Samsung Star

Samsung Electronics CoSamsung Electronics Co. Ltd. is about to launch new variants of its immensely popular touch screen mobile phone, Samsung Star.

The new models, Samsung Star S5230W and S5233W, will have an edge over the previous Star version, S5230, as these will be Wi-Fi enabled handsets. Both the models will come equipped with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g in addition to all the existing features of the Samsung Star S5230.

Samsung reported that sales of its popular Star phone had reached the 5-million mark during August. The company also claimed that the Samsung Star S5230, which was launched in May 2009, had become fastest Samsung model to reach the landmark.

With new models, the company has tried to meet the users’ demand for wireless connectivity, which is lacking in the previous Star series. The company is expecting a further boost in sales with the addition of Wi-Fi in Star series.

The Samsung Star S5230W will be introduced in Europe, whereas, the Star S5233W will hit Middle East, Asia and African markets.

The Wi-Fi enabled versions of Samsung Star are expected to be priced around Rs 12,000.
