Sensex Closes125 Pts Up On Special Trading SessionAfter two successive trading sessions of big losses, Indian equities staged a smart rally in the short 90-minute trading session today, and more significantly, managed to grip benefits till end to close the session in the green zone.
Today, benchmark indices ended near day's peak as bulls ruled the entire trading session.
Real estate stocks, which remained weak in the last few sessions, topped the chart today followed by metal stocks that bounced back after recent sharp losses. Oil, IT, power, auto and capital goods stocks also soared upwards.
In addition to several large cap stocks, various midcap and smallcap stocks also surged higher during the special trading session.
The Sensex marked its closure at 15,915.65 after gaining 124.72 points, while the broad-based Nifty gained 38.60 points at 4757.25.
The session was convened by NSE, which is lifting the capital market trading system's capacitance by applying a horizontally scalable architecture.
The top gainers of the day were Hindalco, JP Associates, Infosys Tech, Tata Steel, Wipro, RIL, Tata Power, M&M, Suzlon Energy, Unitech, Rel Power, BPCL, SAIL, Reliance Capital, Jindal Steel, Idea Cellular, GAIL India, IDFC, Ranbaxy Lab, ABB and many others.
The overall breadth of the market was positive as it recorded 1,748 advancements as against 559 declinations.
