Serbia says it wants to break deadlock with Holland over war crimesCorfu, Greece - Serbia on Saturday said it remained committed to cooperating with the Netherlands in trying to break a deadlock over war crimes and forge closer ties with the European Union.

"I understand that there is no change in the position of Holland. We are committed to working with Holland and all others in the European Union on resolving the issue," said Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic, speaking on the sidelines of a meeting of foreign ministers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

The Netherlands has refused to sign a EU stability and association pact with the Balkan country because it says Serbia has not done enough to hand over general Ratko Mladic to the Yugoslavia war crimes tribunal in The Hague.

"We remain optimistic that this will change in the future," said Jeremic.

Mladic is the most wanted suspect still at large from the Yugoslavian wars of the 1990s. (dpa)
