New Delhi, Nov 11 : A moving tale of young girls abducted from their villages and pushed into the sex trade, how some escape and help other victims - this and many other such stories of children's struggles were showcased on the big screen at the International Children's Rights Documentary Film Festival in the capital Wednesday.

Commemorating the 20th anniversary of the voluntary organisation 'Convention on the Rights of the Child', the film festival showcased five films from across just as many countries, centering around issues like sex trade, HIV/AIDS and polio.

Some of the participating countries are Nepal, South Africa and Iraq besides India.

"This unique collection of documentaries highlights where the world has succeeded or failed to ensure the fundamental rights of children," said an official of UNICEF, which has organised the film festival.

"The Final Inch", one of the films which was set in India talked about polio - a disease that is almost forgotten in many countries - but continues to affect the poorest of the poor. The film personalises a global campaign to eradicate polio and showcases the dedicated services of volunteers who work towards a common aim.

The two-day festival culminated Wednesday. (IANS)
