Shakhtar net vital away goal against Kiev in UEFA Cup semi
Hamburg - Shakhtar Donetsk hold the advantage in their UEFA Cup semi-final tie against fellow Ukrainian club Dynamo Kiev after the first-leg match between the sides ended Thursday in a 1-1 draw.
Kiev seized the initiative at the Valeriy Lobanovskiy Stadium on 22 minutes when Olexandr Aliyev's free-kick was inadvertently turned into his own net by Dmytro Chygrynskiy.
However, Fernandinho netted what could turn out to be the all important away goal on 68 minutes, slotting home a cross from fellow Brazilian Jadson.
Later Thursday, Werder Bremen entertain German rivals SV Hamburg in the other semi-final.
The return legs for both ties take place on May 7 with the UEFA Cup final set for May 20 in Istanbul. (dpa)
