Shiney Ahuja case to be judged by fast track court

Shiney Ahuja case to be judged by fast track courtTo speed up the proceedings of the rape case against Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja, the case was transferred to a fast track court.

Two months back Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan said that to ensure speedy justice to the victim the case would be moved to a fast track court.

Shiney was arrested on June 14 for raping his teenaged domestic help at his residence when his family was away. Since then the actor is in jail as his bail application was earlier rejected.

Chief Public Prosecutor R V Keni said: "Presently, his (Shiney's) bail application is pending before a Sessions court and will come up for hearing tomorrow (Friday). Thereafter, it will be known when this trial will be taken up before the fast track court (in Sewri)."

The medical test of the victim has already confirmed the rape. Police had submitted a 109-page chargesheet against Ahuja along with the forensic and other documentary evidence.

Shiney is in Arthur Road Jail after his arrest since June 15. He will get minimum seven-year jail sentence if the charges against him are proved.
