As per a recent survey, sometimes people find it difficult to quit smoking cigarettes. In spite of all efforts, they fail to stop smoking. But the recent survey says sometimes people hesitate to quit smoking because it can be a part of their genetics.
Scientists have found out that genetic alternates have been connected with the smoking behaviors of humans. However smoking causes numerous hazards on health.
Helena Furberg, and Patrick Sullivan, from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, has concentrated on the biggest study on smoking behavior and the activities of the addicted persons. The test was named Tobacco and Genetics Consortium.
They have tested the DNA of both smokers and non-smokers to check whether genetic variants to see whether it is affecting to people who have been smoking regularly or have started smoking. Also they have conducted various other tests to find out if genetic variants are being affected by the number of cigarettes smoked per day.
The panel has found out that three genetic regions were connected with the number of cigarettes smoked per day, one region was connected with smoking start and one variant was connected with smoking cessation.
