India’s no 1 Somdev Devvarman has dropped 35 places to be at the 161th place in the latest Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings for men’s singles category released on Monday.
The 24-year old Somdev had crashed out from the Chennai Open in the starting phase, which results him into slid in the world rankings. Somdev was ousted by Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia in the second round last week.
Indian young sensation Yuki Bhambri has moved up five spots to achieve his career best ranking of 330, while Rohan Bopanna slipped 33 places to be at 424th spot as he had lost his first round match in the Chennai Open.
Among the other Indians, Prakash Amritraj, who had achieved his career best ranking of 154 in June 2009, jumped 12 places to be at 200th place. Prakash was also crashed out in the opening round of Chennai Open.
Marin Cilic of Croatia, who won Chennai Open title, retained his 14th place while runner-up Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland gained two places to be at 19th spot.
