Sonam Kapoor is certainly not happy these days. After a disastrous 'Saawariya' and 'Delhi 6', Sonam lost a much desired role to splendid beauty Katrina Kaif.

It has been learnt that Sonam was desperate to play a key role in a film, directed by Dibakar Bannerjee.

It may be recalled that Bannerjee had successfully directed films like 'Oye Lucky Lucky Oye' and 'Khosla Ka Ghosla'in the recent past.

According to the sources, Anil Kapoor called the director to his home and tried to persuade him for giving a chance to his daughter. However, the director was not keen to take Sonam for this role.

Speaking on the issue, an insider said, "The director is keen to work with Sonam but he sees her as the archetypal Indian beauty. The heroine must be partly firangi, so Katrina with her firangi accent is perfect for the part."

And when Katrina came to know that Bannerjee was looking someone for a 'firangi' role, she immediately approached the director and expressed her desire to work in his film.
