Special marital art training for police and paramilitary personnel in ChennaiChennai, Dec. 2 : Police personnel and allied paramilitary forces are being trained in special martial arts techniques here, intended to equip them on arresting criminals and restraining more persons who may block them.

"We are giving special training to our Tamil Nadu commandos. Already, we are giving training to the NSG Black Cats. Our main instructors in Delhi they are teaching them in self defence techniques. We are teaching the personnel from CRPF, Assam Rifles, Indo-Pakistan border police and Border Security Force," said Karate Thiagarajan, Vice President, Commonwealth Karate Federation.

Under this special training being offered under the guidance of Kyoshi Jamal Maesra, an ace martial arts instructor coached in Germany, the uniformed personnel are learning latest Kubodo methods.

Maesra, stated to be one of the best international martial arts masters with experience of over 50 years, is assisted by Sensai Monika.

This workshop is an extended part of an international Kubudo seminar that was held under the aegis of the All India Kubudo Federation.

"You do not teach basics to police. We are wasting time if you teach basic because they have a very short time to train and to defend on the streets. You can teach karate and do something on street but then it is a very long way. All they need is simple self-defence course," said Kyoshi Jamal Maesra, ace German trained Kubodo instructor.

Reportedly, Maesra has successfully trained the armed forces of Germany, Dubai Police and various other international security agencies in the filed of unarmed combat.

More than 500 personnel of police and paramilitary forces took part in the camp and top brass of the police have attributed significance to the art of Kubodo since this is handy in course assorted duties. (ANI)
