Rawalpindi, July 26 : The special anti-terror court (ATC) here has adjourned the hearing into the case against five terrorists accused of being involved in November 2008 Mumbai terror attacks for over a month.

The case was adjourned as formal charges against the suspects have still not been filed by the government.

The case has been adjourned till August 29, The Dawn reports.

The five accused includes Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, a top commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and four others Abdul Wajid alias Zarar Shah, Mazhar Iqbal alias Abu al Qama.

Hearing the case, Judge Baqir Ali Rana also ordered that the proceedings against the five men in custody be held in camera.

Sources said the court has agreed to the Federal Investigation Agency's request for a closed door hearing of the case, however, a defence lawyer, Shahbaz Rajput said the court has yet to take a final decision in this regard.

"The court heard the two sides about holding in-camera proceedings of the case," Rajput said.

While Pakistani intelligence agencies have been pushing for a closed door proceedings of the case in the special court set-up inside the Adiala Jail citing security reasons, it is believed that they (intelligence authorities) are trying to shield their relationship with extremist groups. (ANI)
