Afridi seeking shrink to help defend T20 title

Afridi seeking shrink to help defend T20 titleLahore, Apr. 2 : Pakistan T20 skipper Shahid Afridi has supported the idea of having a sports psychologist working with the team ahead of the coveted ICC T20 World Championship in West Indies, where his team would be trying to defend their title.

Afridi said that the team management had sought help from a psychologist ahead of the T20 World Cup in 2009 as well, which worked wonders for the team.

“The last time we had a psychologist work with the players before the Twenty20 World Cup in England it helped a lot. Right now we have not decided on having a psychologist in the camp but it is something we will speak to the board about because there is nothing wrong with it,” The Daily Times quoted Afridi, as saying.

The slam bang all rounder said that he is working hard with the players to lift their morale after the recent controversies that have surrounded the game in the country.

“The players need to believe in themselves if they want to achieve good results and my focus is on making them gel as a unit and improving their confidence levels,” Afridi said.

Meanwhile, team manager Yawar Saeed has said that he has clarified to the players participating in the on going training camp that ‘indiscipline’ in the dressing room would not be tolerated at any cost.

“The board is very serious about discipline and we have told the players no violations would be tolerated at all, even if there is some serious breach of conduct while we are abroad the player will be sent back home immediately and I have the board’s backing on this,” Saeed said. (ANI)
