Beckham asks fans to back England’s 2018 World Cup bid

David BeckhamLondon, Aug 19 : England’s ace footballer David Beckham has asked fans to back the country’s 2018 World Cup bid.

He said England can win the World Cup together by supporting ‘Back The Bid Week’, which starts today.

The Sun reports that FIFA inspectors will tour England from Monday for four days then report back on stadiums and facilities.

Becks, the 2018 bid Vice President, said: “I’ve no doubt fans all over the country will unite to show FIFA the passion and festival of football we could create.”

Back The Bid Week will see Premier League clubs promote messages of support from players and fans.

The dozen host cities, 2018 ambassadors and English clubs will take part.

Russia, the US and, jointly Spain/Portugal and Holland/Belgium are also bidding for the World Cup. The 2018 host is announced in December. (ANI)
