Beckham says Chelsea lucky to get Ancelotti

London, June 1 : England football star David Beckham has said that Chelsea are lucky to have former A C Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti as their next boss.

"With Carlo Ancelotti leaving AC Milan, it is the end of an era, the end of some extraordinary years. Wherever he goes, they will be a fortunate club to have him as coach," The Sun quoted Beckham, as saying.

AC superstar Kaka added: "Carlo Ancelotti is a person I have a very strong bond with thanks to these six years that I have spent here with him as my coach at Milan. I am grateful for what he''s done for me and for what he taught me. He gave me the opportunity to be known as a footballer across the world and I''ve won a lot with him. I wish him all the best in everything."

It is three years since Chelsea lifted the Premier League trophy, then under the guidance of Jose Mourinho. They suffered heartbreak in losing last season''s Champions League final on penalties to Manchester United. And the Blues missed out on this year''s Euro climax after the incredible late scenes against Barcelona in the semi-final second leg defeat.

So now they turn to Ancelotti, a two-time Champions League winner, who will be the fifth boss in under two years to be handed the task of bringing success back to Chelsea.

German midfielder Michael Ballack believes the Italian will need time to make the club champions again. (ANI)
