London, June 30 : England midfielder David Beckham is targeting a spot in the forthcoming qualifiers for Euro 2012 to help restore the team’s credibility.
The veteran former skipper believes that he still has plenty to offer England and his ability to retain possession and pass incisively was sorely missed at the finals.
Beckham is currently recovering from an Achilles tendon injury that limited his participation at the World Cup to a coaching and mentoring role.
According to reports, his rehab is going well, and he wants to play in the 2012 qualifier against Bulgaria on September 3 and against Switzerland four days later.
“David loves playing for England and is optimistic he’ll be ready for the qualifiers in September,” The Sun quoted a source close to Beckham, as saying. (ANI)
