‘Butter-fingered’ Akmal’s nightmare with gloves continues

‘Butter-fingered’ Akmal’s nightmare with gloves continuesLondon, July 30 : Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal had another nightmare day behind the stumps on the opening day of first Test against England, where he dropped a couple of sitters to strengthen claims that he is no way near his best form.

Kamran dropped a straightforward catch offered by England skipper Andrew Strauss off fast bowler Mohammad Aamer, The Daily Times reports.

Strauss, who was playing on 15, was eventually out for 45, when Akmal redeemed himself, holding on to another edge of Aamer.

After lunch, Kamran failed to get down early to dismiss left-handed Eoin Morgan, who went on to score his maiden century.

Things went from bad to worse for Akmal, as he missed a simple stumping chance offered by Paul Collingwood off leg-spinner Danish Kaneria.

Collingwood, who was batting on 48, ended the day on 81 not out.

At the end of first day's play, England was at 331-4, with Collingwood and Morgan having already added 213 for the fifth wicket. (ANI)
