London, Nov 16 : McLaren Formula One driver Jenson Button roared with delight after winning the ‘Battle of the Brits’ against teammate Lewis Hamilton.
By finishing third in Abu Dhabi, Button knocked Hamilton out of the four-way battle for the runners-up spot and notched his greatest achievement since becoming champion in 2009.
Button has taken three wins to Hamilton’s two in a championship dominated by Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull.
“It’s great to get more points than a teammate who is so competitive and you’ve seen win so many Grands Prix in the past. So yes, it is a good feeling,” the Daily Mirror quoted Button, as saying.
“I’ve had reliability issues, he’s had different types of issues, so it’s very difficult to judge whether I should be happy with just getting more points than my teammate. The important thing is to look at it and say there are not many races where I’ve put a foot wrong,” he added.
Hamilton had previously never finished a season behind a McLaren teammate since he entered F1 in 2007. (ANI)
