London, Feb 5 : Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho has warned that his club is ready to kill off Arsenal’s Premier League title challenge on Sunday.
Carvalho said the Stamford Bridge clash is a must-win game for the Blues, as their challenge is to win all the matches until the end of the season and not give chances to main rivals.
“After the draw at Hull, we have to win on Sunday. Our challenge is to stay at the top until the end of the season and make sure we don’t have bad results at home,” The Mirror quoted Carvalho, as saying.
“I have played in many London derbies and Arsenal have never made it easy for us and this will be a big test for them. It is maybe their last chance to stay in the title race and if we beat Arsenal then I think it will be face to face between us and Manchester United for the championship,” he added.
The 31-year-old further said that Chelsea will be seen as favourites on Sunday and warns that Arsenal cannot use their crippling injury list as an excuse for their defeat to Manchester United, which dealt a huge blow to their title dream.
“Arsenal have suffered many physical problems in attack but we’ve also had difficult circumstances. It’s not an excuse because both clubs have quality on the bench,” Carvalho said.
“Chelsea being favourites is normal. We are the leaders in the table, but this match is very important for the rest of our season,” he added. (ANI)
