London, Jan 9 : Manchester City's latest recruit Patrick Vieira has vowed to deny rivals United from winning a record fourth consecutive English Premier League crown.
The French midfielder did it three times in nine successful years with Arsenal between 1996 and 2005.
"I have beaten them before with Arsenal and, yes, I believe I can do it with City now, this season. We have got a team who can fight for the title. When you look at the players the club's got, I strongly believe we are not out of the race to win the title," The Sun quoted Vieira, as saying.
"We need to believe we can do it and I'm sure the club can do it. I don't have any doubt about it. I've always chosen the right team to be successful," he said.
The Frenchman, who joined City from Inter Milan yesterday, said: "They don't look as strong as they used to. Just look at the results. They are not dominating like they used to. United used to be top and so many points clear. That is no longer the case.
"Now you have Chelsea, Liverpool, as well as Arsenal plus City and Aston Villa, so many teams who can finish in the top four. And I think that has made it really difficult for United to dominate as they used to."
City is fifth in the Premier League, 10 points off leaders Chelsea and eight behind United. (ANI)
