Clarke admits he needs to improve in Twenty20 format

Clarke admits he needs to improve in Twenty20 formatMelbourne, Feb 4 : Ahead of Australia’s Twenty20 game against Pakistan at the MCG on Friday, skipper Michael Clarke has admitted he needs to improve as a batsman in the game''s shortest version.

Clarke’s record in Twenty20 cricket is mediocre in comparison to his records in Tests and one-day matches, and even prompted a call from former Australian batsman Mark Waugh that vice-captain Cameron White would be a better choice as Twenty20 skipper.

The 28-year-old averages 19.63 in the shortest form and scores at just over a run a ball.

“No doubt. I feel like I''ve got a lot of improvement in me in all forms of the game. I''ve batted 15 times in Twenty20 cricket and a fair bit of that was at No. 7 during that first world (championships in 2007) I took part in,” The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Clarke, as saying.

“For me personally, I''m looking to learn as much as I can about the game but in saying that, also be successful,” he added.

Clarke further said that after the Test and ODI series victories, his team is keen for another win.

“We''ve taken some momentum from the Test series and the one-day series into our preparation so far and the boys are keen to finish strong,” he said.

He stressed Australians are also looking at the game to finalize their strategies for the coming Twenty 20 world championships in the Caribbean. (ANI)
