London, July 21:
Ace Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo is still refusing to commit himself to Manchester United.
The Portuguese winger declined to dampen speculation about his future just 72 hours after United boss Alex Ferguson insisted that he was going nowhere.
Real Madrid target Ronaldo said: “I’ve had hundreds of questions about Manchester United and Real Madrid. What do you want me to say? That I’m going or I’m staying? I don’t know about the future, only God knows it. I can’t say any more.”
Ronaldo, who is recovering from ankle surgery, is on holiday in America. And his latest comments are certain to rile Ferguson, who thought he had sorted out the matter by flying to Lisbon for a meeting with him last week, The Sun reported.
“Great players are always hounded by great clubs. It’s a normal situation. I’ve always been hounded, not only this year. It’s not strange for me to see what happens,” Ronaldo added.
Ronaldo signed a new contract 18 months ago and has already been warned by United that no new deal will be forthcoming.
But the player has always insisted moving to Real is a matter of heart, not money.
Madrid president Ramon Calderon is adamant Real will not give up chasing Ronaldo - despite United insisting he will not be sold.
But Calderon believes United’s optimism is a ruse to get more money out of the Primera Liga giants - who are reportedly willing to pay no more than around 67million pounds. (ANI)
