Hyderabad, May 5 : Ahead of their encounter in the Indian Premier League against Delhi Daredevils, Deccan Chargers skipper Kumar Sangakkara hopes to break the series of defeats and earn full two points that will keep their campaign afloat in the tournament.
Former champions Deccan Chargers and Delhi Daredevils face a must-win situation as both teams clash swords in the IPL at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium on Thursday in Hyderabad.
"We being a good team haven''t been able to convert that into consistent winning performances on the field. Probably, when the best bowling attacks in the IPL when it comes to pace and spin and also some very good local and international batsmen. So, the only areas where we really lacked are in the all-round performances regularly.
"In T20 cricket mistakes on the field can turn games, mistakes with the bats, little ones or with the ball especially in the latter overs. These are the little areas that I think we need to keep working on where we can maximize any advantage that we manufacture on field," said Sangakkara.
Both teams have played nine games and lost six of them, but Deccan remains ahead of Delhi due to better run-rate.
Delhi Daredevils, on the other hand would rely on their skipper Virender Sehwag and his opening partner David Warner to take them through.
Greg Shipperd, coach of Delhi Daredevils, said this and also noted that every match is crucial for both the teams.
"Well, obviously every game is a crucial match and particularly in that where one need to keep the dreams alive. Its important for both teams to come out and play their basic cricket and have a win tomorrow. So, certainly that will be our focus. In this season out team have been lucky, we have been up some days and down the next," said Shipperd.
Both teams are evenly poised and the team that performs well in all three department of the game will emerge victorious.
