London, Feb. 5 : Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe is hoping his hattrick against Leeds will help make it third time lucky in winning the FA Cup.
Fate has twice robbed the 27-year-old, of stepping out at Wembley finals.
When Portsmouth won the FA Cup in 2008, Defoe was sitting in the stands. And in last season''s Carling Cup final against Manchester United he was out, nursing a broken foot, reports The Sun.
"Everything happens for a reason and maybe I just wasn''t meant to play in those finals. When you miss out on big occasions through injury it''s hard to take. Rules are another thing. But this time round, maybe I can get there and it would be extra special if we went on to win it," Defoe was quoted, as saying.
His treble took him to 23 goals for the season, level with Manchester United hot shot Wayne Rooney.
"I just want to keep it going. The Golden Boot is at the back of your mind but it''s more about the team having a good season, but if I did get it, that means we''ve been doing well," he said. (ANI)
